Synopsis For The Middle Texas Coastal Waters

High pressure to the north will continue to produce a light to moderate easterly flow through Wednesday. The northern fringes of a weak tropical wave will produce isolated showers and thunderstorms through Wednesday. Hurricane Ike is expected to move into the central Gulf on Thursday and into the northwest Gulf on Friday. High swells from Ike will reach the coastal waters on Thursday and will increase significantly on Friday. The winds will become increasingly offshore as Ike approaches towards the end of the period.

Today East wind 5 to 10 knots increasing to 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon. Bays smooth increasing to slightly choppy to occasionally choppy in the afternoon. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms.
Tonight East wind 10 to 15 knots. Bays slightly choppy to occasionally choppy. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms.
Tuesday East wind 10 to 15 knots. Bays slightly choppy to occasionally choppy. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms.
Tuesday Night East wind 10 to 15 knots decreasing to 5 to 10 knots after midnight. Bays slightly choppy to occasionally choppy decreasing to smooth after midnight. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight.
Wednesday And Wednesday Night East wind 5 to 10 knots increasing to 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon and evening...then decreasing to 5 to 10 knots after midnight. Bays smooth increasing to slightly choppy to occasionally choppy in the afternoon and evening...then decreasing to smooth after midnight. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms.
Thursday North wind around 5 knots shifting east in the afternoon...then shifting southeast in the evening becoming west after midnight. Bays smooth.
