... Wind Advisory remains in effect until 11 PM PDT this evening
for the west side of the San Joaquin Valley and the Kern County
mountains and deserts...

A Wind Advisory for the west side of the San Joaquin Valley and
the Kern County mountains and deserts remains in effect until
11 PM PDT this evening.

West winds of 20 to 30 mph will continue over the Kern County
mountains and deserts overnight tonight... however the gusty winds
will diminish some through mid-day... but are expected to increase
again to around 50 mph during the afternoon and continue into the
evening. Local gusts may reach as high as 70 mph below mountain
passes such as the Mojave area and Indian Wells Valley.

Major roads affected by the winds will include Highway 58 through
and below the Tehachapi Pass... Highway 178 through the Walker
Pass... and Highway 14 and U.S. 395 in the Kern County deserts.
Reduced visibilities are possible in blowing dust along the
roadways. Take extra precaution when driving and allow extra
distance between your car and the car ahead of you for sudden
stops or slow Downs in areas of dust.

A Wind Advisory means that sustained wind speeds of at least
35 mph or gusts of 45 mph or more are expected. Winds this strong
can make driving difficult... especially for high profile
vehicles. Use extra caution.

... Record high minimum temperature at Fresno on October 2nd...

The low temperature at Fresno-Yosemite international Airport on
Thursday... October 2nd... was 68 degrees. This broke the previous
record high minimum temperature for the date of 65 degrees... set in
2001.
