... The Flood Warning remains in effect until 300 am PST Friday for
small streams in Chelan County...

Rapid rises were reported near the community of Cashmere at the
confluence of Mission Creek and Peshastin Creek. County officials
and property owners had begun sandbagging along portions of the
affected creeks. County officials also reported a portion of Highway
97 near mile marker 175 has been closed due to flooding or flowing
debris.

County officials also report some residents near the Mad River in
the Entiat Valley experiencing flooding... with small bridges over
the river flooded but not damaged.

Other small streams in Chelan County are expected to run high
through Friday due to a combination of runoff from heavy rain along
the Cascade crest and melting snow.

Rain will continue along the Cascade crest through Thursday
morning. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are likely
along the Cascade crest by Thursday morning. Rainfall will be
significantly less for communities east of the crest. Places east of
Leavenworth... Stehekin... and Winthrop will likely receive an inch or
less of rain between through Thursday afternoon.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions
immediately.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

To report flooding... have the nearest law enforcement agency relay
your report to the National Weather Service forecast office.

... The urban and small stream flood advisory for rain and melting
snow remains in effect until 300 PM PST Friday for western Okanogan
County...

Rain will continue to along the Cascade crest through Thursday.
Additional precipitation amounts around an inch are possible.
Despite the additional rainfall... a passing cold front will lower
snow levels significantly today. This will slow the runoff into the
rivers near the crest... allowing most rivers and streams to peak
this afternoon or tonight.

Rainfall will be significantly lighter for communities east of the
crest. Locations such as Twisp and Winthrop will likely receive a
quarter inch or less today with even lighter amounts into the
Okanogan Valley and Highlands.

The threat for small stream flooding will be limited to the western
quarter of the County... namely around Mazama... Winthrop... Twisp...
and Carlton. The combination of rain and snowmelt will contribute to
rises on small streams.
