San Diego's Weather, Climate, and Surf

At 7:45pm on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, it's 54 degrees and mostly clear.

Thanksgiving week has ended well in Southern California; Wednesday morning's storm brought more than an inch of rain to most areas of San Diego, including my neighborhood.

I drove from San Diego to the beautiful south coast of Los Angeles County on Wednesday for the holiday, and the weather was cool and pleasant. Still, it was lucky that I left when I did -- had I waited until the evening, I would have been stuck in a great deal more traffic. We walked around the neighborhood and admired the view -- surfers and sailboats on the choppy, gray sea, clear to downtown Los Angeles, Malibu and the mountains beyond, and all the way across the ocean to Catalina. Thanksgiving Day was beautiful -- my girlfriend's family has a wonderful tradition involving coffee in Redondo Beach and a walk down the Hermosa Beach strand. Today was a cool and sunny day, but hazier on the water -- we enjoyed some time out in Redondo and a good long sit in a neighborhood cafe.

The weather up north has been fantastic -- sun and clouds with high temperatures in the 60s and lows in the lower 50s. Here's hoping for some of the same when I return to San Diego.
