The weather in Tampa during October 2008 was slightly cooler and a bit wetter than normal. The mean temperature for October was 75.1 degrees which was 0.7 degrees below normal. The warmest day occurred on the 12th when the mercury reached 91 and the coolest day was a chilly (for Tampa) 42 on the 29th which was only 2 degrees above the all-time record for October of 40 set in 1942. In nearby Lutz (where I live) the temperature dipped to 36 on the 29th.

Rainfall totaled 3.52 inches which was more than an inch above the long-term average of 2.29 inches for October. There were 7 days recording measurable rainfall but only one day with 1 inch or more. In fact, most of the rain (2.11 inches) fell during a 24 hour period between October 6th and 7th.

The strongest sustained wind was 21mph on the 28th while the peak wind gust (29 mph) was reported on the 13th. Tampa received 90% of the possible sunshine for the month.
