Rocketisms and JERisms:Just remember the difference in a good or bad forecaster is INSTINCT, knowledge all can have...but that knowing something by just instinct will go alot farther than any book...follow that intinct even if it defies that "book" and you will see the light..we can only write it in a book after we learn it, INSTINCT of the unknown is how we learn by being either right or wrong...Author Outrocket.Weather only happens every other day...Author OutrocketWeather is like greed, sooner or later it can't hide what it is!...Author Outrocket.Hurricanes are like unprotected sex, they can be so exciting you can't resist the experience, but the consequences can be very disruptive. 2008 Atlantic Tropical Summary:I found this
summary of the 2008 season very informative and well done. This is courtesy of the NWS office in Jacksonville, FL. It shows that eventhough we had an above normal season, we really only had two big bursts of activity all season. And we had a major lull of activity during the "peak" of the season. Meteorologist Steve Letro does a great job in comparing the busy times with the lull in activity by comparing the different atmospheric conditions at the time. Also, the NWS office in Jacksonville has posted their
winter outlook for NE Florida and SE Georgia. Looks like we may be in for a cold and dry winter.
Frost Morning November 20th. 2008:I very rarely see a frost before Thanksgiving, but I have a light frost this morning coverning the ground. Being this close to the coast I only see about 4 to 5 frosts a season and a few freezes. Last winter season I barely had a frost or two. Got down to 35F both nights, which were not records, but were about 15 degrees below normal. We had just enough of a light breeze both nights which kept temperatures about freezing here. We will have a excellent recovery today before the next cold front moves through on Friday. We will see a 30 to 35 degree temperature rise in most areas between this mornings low temperatures and this afternoons highs. At this rate we could be in for a cold winter. Then again, I have seen winters here in North Florida where December was our coldest month and the rest of the winter was warm. Who knows whats in store for the rest of the winter. Have a nice day!
Atlantic Tropical Season Almost Over:Well unfortunately I didn't get to track most likely the last formidable storm of this years Hurricane season because of my wonderful Comcast!:) I was relegated to watching Paloma on The Weather Channel, what a drag!! But anyways it looks like Paloma will most likely be the finale on what has been an active and interesting season. Looking over my storm total predictions I was just about dead on, not bad for a June prediction!..LOL As the season ends so does my time here on the WU. I am busier then ever with life, so my time is limited anyway, so once the season ends I wont be keeping up with the blog much. If any interesting Southeastern winter weather pops up I may get on here to talk about it, like maybe some snow for the Deep South. I have a feeling we may see some Southern Snow this year! As always I want to thank everyone who has participated this season in the tropical blog. It has been fun and educational. You even had to put up with some of my political ramblings!! GOBAMA!! And that's not GO BAMA!! For all of you BAMA fans out there. Cant wait for the Gators to crush them Bama wimps in a few week!! Woohoo!! See ya all around!!
