Weather Summary

Weather Underground Forecast for Friday, July 04, 2008.

Low pressure over Mexico will produce scattered showers and thunderstorms over central and eastern Mexico as well as the Yucatan Peninsula. To the south of Mexico there is low pressure system that has low potential for tropical cyclone formation. Tropical storm Douglas and Hurricane Boris are off the west coast of Mexico. Boris is expected to move westward and Douglas is expected to move northwestward.

Central America will see widespread scattered showers triggered by a tropical wave over Honduras and Nicaragua. Another tropical wave extending from Venezuela to Puerto Rico will also cause some widespread scattered showers over the Lesser Antilles and will move into the Greater Antilles Friday evening. Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to move though Venezuela throughout the day. There is currently medium potential for tropical cyclone development off the coast of Africa.

To the north, normal afternoon showers and thunderstorms are likely over Florida and the Bahamas. High pressure over the Atlantic brings moist warm air into the region, allowing favorable conditions for severe weather development.

Weather History:

Did you know that...

On the first Independence Day (July 4, 1776), Thomas Jefferson bought his very first thermometer before signing the Declaration of Independence. Apparently, it was 76 degrees and cloudy. Also, on this date in 1956, a world record was set when Unionville, Maryland received 1.23 inches of rain...in one minute.
