A strong low pressure system will continue to dominate the weather pattern throughout the day on Friday. Over Western Europe, high winds and precipitation are expected across the region for the entire day as the trough continues to spin over the area. The British Isles will see cloudy skies and scattered showers throughout the day on Friday, with snow showers possible across the northern half of the region. To the east, a batch of heavier rain will move over eastern France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, and Austria in the morning, with snow likely in the higher elevations. Italy can expect far less precipitation than the countries to its north, although a few clouds and showers are possible there as well.
To the north, snow is expected across Scandinavia, where the low pressure system is centered. Western Norway will anticipate heavy snowfall and strong winds throughout the day on Friday, while the rest of the Scandinavian Peninsula will see scattered snow showers. Elsewhere in Central Europe, a mix of heavy rain and snow will spread to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, parts of Romania, and western Ukraine around noon or the early afternoon. The eastern Mediterranean countries will see clouds and light rain in the morning, with the precipitation becoming heavier as the day progresses.
In Eastern Europe, a small batch of heavy snowfall will move through Poland and Belarus in the morning on Friday, while the Baltic countries will see heavier snowfall in the afternoon. Scattered snow showers are expected across northeastern Europe, with the precipitation changing over to rain in southwestern Russia and parts of Ukraine.
